So Glad You're Here.
Hey you guys! My name is Chrystal, and welcome to my digital diary, Chrys of Colors. This blog is a collection of everything that is important to me: Christ, colors, and content.
CHRIST
First and foremost, I am a child of God. Growing up, my parents always equipped me with the word of God. It wasn't until I was on my own with no direction that I fully experienced the presence of God.
Without the identity of school and sports that college gave me, I realized I had no idea who I was. This led me to seek myself in people and places that ultimately took me out of alignment with His plan.
Once I finally surrendered the control over who I thought I was, in return He showed me where He wasn't and created in me a new perspective on life. I won't say that I have it all figured out, but I invite you on this journey of truly defining what it means to live in purpose.
COLORS
My expression of color takes on a literal and figurative meaning. In a literal sense, I love to express color through makeup. When I started back when I was fifteen, I got into makeup solely based on insecurities.
It quickly grew into a passion of mine as I learned how to perfect new techniques/looks. This was the first time I found something that helped me express myself rather than hide my imperfections. Because of this, I have been able to serve and connect with others by teaching them how to do makeup while having intentional conversations.
Figuratively speaking, color is an embodiment of who we are. From how we style our hair, to the clothes we wear, our perception of reality, to how we're perceived in society; color defines everything.
Take the color red for instance. Does red mean danger and caution to you? Or does it mean love/passion? That may be what most believe, but there are others who have a completely different interpretation. Just because the majority buys into one definition does not mean it has to define your way of being.
This example parallels with my message to you. Though society conditions us to become what has already been defined for us, my prayer is that Chrys of Colors will inspire you to express your individuality and all the colors that come with it.
CONTENT
This one is simple. I am making a promise to this community, and myself, to put out content.
When I first came up with the idea of creating a blog a few years ago, I would always over complicate the type of content to put out. With my love of God and my interests of poetry, written word, inspirational speaking, makeup, photography, modeling, and much more, I couldn't figure out what part of me I wanted to focus on and who I would brand myself as. Paired with over-thinking everything I wrote, over-analyzing every picture I took, and the fear of people not liking me, I also could never get myself to just start.
After battling myself for so long, God helped me understand why all parts make a whole. It may not be perfect but then again, who is? I have finally decided to share my passions, thoughts, and insight with the world through content that inspires others to live life fully, freely, and authentically.
Putting myself out there is definitely scary, but I strongly believe that we must bring our whole self to the table in order to truly live in our calling; that's the purpose behind Chrys of Colors. I consider this platform an ongoing creation that supports self-discovery, growth, and freedom of expression.
I genuinely appreciate all of your support in creating this colorful community and I would love to hear your thoughts as well. If you want to discuss my work or possible topics, hear more about my journey or simply say hi - please get in touch today.
